Certified Nurse Aide (Acute Care)

Our approach to teaching CNA includes Hawaiiana and gardening using a hybrid model with online and face-to-face components. Students will achieve a level of knowledge, skills and abilities essential to provide basic care to ill and disabled persons. Skills are listed below. Teaching methodologies include lecture, lab and supervised clinical hours in a long-term care facility. In Hawaii, cultural understanding in the healthcare setting promotes holistic healing--a balance of mind, body and soul promotes positive outcomes for the patient and caregiver.

Upon successful completion of the course and clinical hours students will be awarded a Certificate of Professional Development which will allow them to take the State of Hawaii Nurse Assistant Competency Evaluation examination with Prometric to become a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA).

This is a 150-hour hybrid course, with scheduled meeting times on Zoom. Students will also work on course assignments in their own time.
